Why driveway detailing beats a tunnel wash on the Eastside
A tunnel wash is quick and cheap, and sometimes that is all you want. But the brushes and cloth strips that touch your car also touched the muddy truck ahead of you, and that grit is what puts fine scratches and swirl marks in your clear coat. Dark paint shows it first, usually as a haze you only notice in the sun.
Doing it in the driveway is slower on purpose. Wheels and tires first, foam and a rinse to lift the grit before anything touches the paint, then hand washing with clean mitts and separate buckets. Door jambs, glass, interior, the spots a tunnel never reaches. Nobody is rushing you through a conveyor, so bug guts on the front end and brake dust in the wheel barrels actually get handled.
